altered jewelry, costume brainstorm, and some apparel

    Hello again!

    How are you? i’m well.

I altered some bits and bobs that would become charms I’ll be using for necklaces. I got this wide metal heart and single round pink earring from the swap meet that I added some jump rings to. I also uncovered a few unused charms I made probably 2 years or so ago, and added jump rings to those as well. I feel like the long chain pairs nicely because they’re vertical pieces. I like wearing this chain long, but did add a jump ring so it can be altered shorter.

I also altered a chain and leather choker I got from a friend. I never remember to take before pictures, but I really just replaced the lightweight silver chain with some heavier weight black chain.

I worked out more details of my costumes last week too. Mostly for the Bloop and Mothra, as they’ll be the most involved costumes, with the most elements to make. Here’s some chicken scratch.

Excuse the crudity of the model. I’ve always loved the idea of making a funky bonnet for myself, so maybe the Bloop costume could be my chance. Still debating whether I’d add the fin to said bonnet or maybe to the back of my body suit? That’s likely a cross-that-bridge-once-we-get-there situation.

It all feels doable now, but likely because it only exists on paper. I haven’t had the chance to check any second-hand shops, but that'll be my first stop. I would like to practice affordable and resourceful costume making to the best of my abilities. Ideally, I spend as little as possible, and maybe try out a new method or two for the execution. I hope in the next week or so to do a first run at a few of the makeup looks I’d need to accomplish: likely just The Bloop and Groucho. I’ll likely post those when I do.

Lastly, did just a little stamping on a few tee shirts. I traced this ice cream design onto a scrap of fabric to sew onto the tote bag project.

I haven’t been able to get myself to finish stamping the letters to the lyrics “I’ve gotta be me” on my striped sweater. Especially with this heat, I don’t plan to wear it- why bother? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe soon. I still have to finish the text on my rain slicker. Although, the June gloom kind of came and went where I am, and there’s likely no inclimate weather in my future. Whatever, we’ll see.

This week: sew tote bag? clothing pile? costumes?

I have all the pieces made for the tote bag, so I'll likely attach them when i get the chance. It'd be nice to stamp those clothes, even if they just end up sitting around. Hopefully will make a stop to look for materials, too.

    see u next time

thank u for stopping by <3

doodles and a few little site updates

    Hello again <3

    Here are some views from my sketchbook. . .. . . … ..

I made a few changes, aside from the larger monthly ones, to the Stay a while page these last few days. I added a link to a page that contains all of the write-ups I’ve done thus far, and have been erased since (so the info is still there despite the cycling of new content)

I also got a chance to update my page of archived wearable pieces! I love to see all the clothing and jewelry I’ve made previously.

I spent some time on the birthday gift projects too. I wish I could share now but I think they’ll be worth the wait :-)

𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬: 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮/ 𝘣𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘨𝘪𝘧𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘴/ 𝘫𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘳𝘺?

Today I’m finally finding the motivation to work on some unfinished apparel projects. I also got all excited to work on purses the other week and never did it x_x finding the motivation to do that too. I’ve liked the thought of stenciling some new designs on a purse so maybe I can work on stenciling and purses simultaneously.

I’d really love to make it to the library too, in hopes of borrowing their sewing machine. I have an additional pile of unfinished clothing projects, but these need alterations. I might even try altering by hand if the sewing machine has already been borrowed for the month. I figure it’d be worth knowing how to do.

I picked up more jump rings, too. I think I'll spend time on jewelry alterations too <3

Kind of a short one today, I know

Thank you for sticking around regardless

hi im back - Doodles, customized tote bag, and gift projects

    ᴴᵃᵖᵖʸ ᴹᵒⁿᵈᵃʸ !!!!

I wouldn't blame you if you didn't recognize me. .. . ... it's been entirely too long! life is certainly happening for me right now, but the plan is to keep weekly updates going for the foreseeable future. ♡ ♡

The sketchbook throughout the week … ….

I have a few causes for celebration coming up, so I’ve had a few gift projects in rotation.

    ... .. .

I got the chance to start a new piece for a friend's birthday in July (can't share that yet c:)

    ... . . . .. .. ...

I also started and finished this purse for another friend's birthday that was this weekend. ^^ I really like how it turned out. The chain, as well as the paintings were added by me :-)

    Image description

I haven’t customized/ painted a purse in a long time, and this week I’ve realized it was toooo long. I have more purses I’ve been meaning to do something with, so I think I’ll bring them out this upcoming week.

    Image description

I also started on some elements to customize this old tote bag of mine <3

It still feels a bit naked to me, so i think i want to add some scraps of lace to act as borders around some of the elements.

I also got a chance to make more girl head earrings for myself! I wanted a few more so I could rotate my options.

    Image description

i also did more planning for my 2 future head jewelry projects. There's not much to show for them yet, but i'm excited for their outcome :D i need to pick up a LOT of jump rings in the next few days, but once i do i should have more to share.

ₜₕᵢₛ wₑₑₖ: tote bag project, more leather painting, and head jewelry

I'm gonna take a closer look at the blank leather bags I have and make some plans with those :) I also want to pick up those jump rings and start piecing together the head jewelry projects. If i get a chance , I'd also love to sew up the elements on my new tote

I'm sure i'll see you sooner than later, but until then

thank u thank u so much for stopping by

possible costume projects, some drawings and customizing too

    Sheesh it’s been a few weeks. . .. ... .. . .... . . . .. .. . ....

    Hello again

    I did some drawing –

I also did some customizing on a few apparel projects: Spray painting, stamping and drawing.

I’ve also decided on a few costumes I’ll be working on for the next few months ☆⋆。°✩

(this list is subject to change)

    • Mothra
    • Jean Jacket (from ‘Nope’ 2022)
    • The Bloop
    • Groucho Marx

I have a few other ideas too, but again, all of it subject to change. I was working on a list of what I’d need to achieve these, and it’s super doable (especially if my deadline is Halloween).

I know Mothra and Jean Jacket will likely take the longest. I even considered 2 different costumes representing 2 different iterations of the character. i know the delivery is going to be somewhat abstract, so i think I'm gonna have to iron out more details and work on more sketches before even I know exactly what to expect from the outcome.

I also have little idea of how I'm going to execute a costume design for the Bloop, and am even unsure if I'll be able to deliver how i want- but it won't stop me from trying.

For Groucho, I’ll just need a few articles of clothing- the rest will really just be makeup.

    idk we'll see c:

𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬: purses & jewelry probably

I want to alter a few personal jewelry pieces, as well as make myself a few new pairs of earrings. Specifically, with the girl head charms seen here

I also want to customize more apparel and maybe paint a few purses of mine- so it looks like it’ll be a week of wearables.

More sketching for the costume projects too- so hopefully I’ll have more tangible plans to share next week ❤︎❤︎❤︎

thanks for stopping by- i appreciate you so much.

i could give you my whole heart for giving me and my silly ideas the time of day

    til next time

Monkey ears, doodles, and costume ideas?

    ʰᵃᵖᵖʸ ⁿᵉʷ ʷᵉᵉᵏ <³

    Hey ! I missed you !!

I ended up taking part in a fantastic BBQ for 4/20, so I decided to skip my last entry. Some dear friends and I grilled up some Asada and projected the movie “Smiley Face” (2007) in the backyard to celebrate the occasion <3

    As far as creative projects … . . . .. . . .. . .. .

I did a little drawing in the sketchbook ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩

I also made monkey ears for my trip with a friend to the Santa Ana zoo the Sunday before last. They were so super simple to make: I hand-stitched the felt pieces together, and left a little space in the inner corners so the ears can slide along the headband.

I like them, but almost feel like they’re almost too simple and have considered adding buttons or a textured fabric or something to make them more interesting.

Maybe later idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ for now, I’m a simple monkey.

    It’s also quite a bit early, but I’ve been pondering Summerween/Halloween costumes . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁

I‘m happy to think of them sooner than later so I can put time into sourcing materials second-hand and making the details myself. The costumes I did last year were fun, inexpensive, and mostly handmade, but I’ve set my sights on some cool projects this time around. I don’t think I’ll share them just yet? I still want to ensure the more involved ideas are possible, but in one of my next few posts I’ll probably share some ideas and their plans :,) I’m so excited!!

It’s felt like a long 2 weeks, but that’s kind of everything I did creatively. I was needed pretty busy and needed elsewhere, but have plans for the week to come!

ₜₕᵢₛ wₑₑₖ: apparel & drawing & gift ideas

I just picked up a few blank shirts and have a few ideas for them. I also have some projects from a few weeks back I keep meaning to go back to, but just haven’t. so i'm hoping to work on some clothes this week and maybe jewelry?

There are also a few birthdays/celebrations coming up for me, so I may start putting together some gift ideas :-)

I’ll probably draw more too – I’m yearning to make doodles that make me proud.

    I like u I appreciate u

Thank you for stopping by for this brief catchup

face & head jewelry, lamb ears and some doodles

    Mondaayy mondaaayyyyy

    I hope your week was lovely, welcome back . . . ..

    ⋆⭒˚.⋆ ⋆⭒˚.⋆ ⋆⭒˚.⋆ ⋆⭒˚.⋆ ⋆⭒˚.⋆

    Ⓜⓞⓝⓓⓐⓨ

i did nothing of note. Have an old doodle.

I’ve been really into the idea of face and head jewelry lately, so I wanted to brainstorm a few ideas.

(a little inspiration if you’re curious VVVV)

I did some sketches (really nothing worth sharing right now), and started to put together the framework of a metal headpiece.

    Image description

It’s still super minimal and early in the process, but I want to spend a little extra time on it, and ideally have it done by summer. I absolutely love the idea of making a beaded one too that looks slightly different in structure, but feel less confident in my ability in beads, as I do with hardware and metal pieces. Idk maybe if I start to get the hang of the first one, I’ll dive headlong into the second- why not? Either way you’ll hear more about the progress on this endeavor in the coming weeks.

As far as face jewelry goes- I know the execution for some of my ideas will be a bit simpler, and I have an idea of how I want a few pieces to look. Will definitely be working on at least one this week- we’ll see how far I get <3

    Ⓣⓗⓤⓡⓢⓓⓐⓨ

I guess at some point while I was on the subject of head ware for myself, I got the idea to make myself a set of lamb ears. I used a headband, a small towel, cardstock, and an old fuzzy pink sock and put them together in about an hour. The hardest part was determining the size of the ears, but once I did they kind of just made themselves ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Consequently, I didn’t get any pictures beside the (nearly) final outcome. I only have the ears attached to the headband by 2 rubber bands, but may switch to something with more permanence later. They’re pretty sturdy as is, though. I wore them around the apartment for a few hours and didn’t have any issues with them falling apart.

They cost me $3 to make (I just needed the towel and headband). I think they’re great and I love them. Maybe I’ll make myself a whole array of ears. Maybe I’ll have a sizeable new collection of head ware for the coming Summer months. Only time will tell, but I’m a little hooked, so it’s likely.

In the early afternoon I made a sign and brought it to a street corner to hold while I hula hooped. Too often I forget I can just do things like that, so I indulged to kick off the weekend. I only wanted it to act as a general reminder to those who saw. I was there for about an hour before I went home. I’ll likely do it again this week- maybe just with a different sign. I’m thinking I could rotate signs and just do it when I feel like it.

Once home, I re-sprayed the lines I had started on the hood. I had done gray initially but I like it so much better with black. I figured while I was at it, I’d add stripes to the wrists too and I’m glad I did because I love them :.)

Spent some time drawing this weekend <3

Saturday, mostly around the house, but Sunday I met up with a crafting group I’ve been taking part in! We met at Portola Coffee Roasters in Costa Mesa and tried their banana matcha, which was delightful. The seating & atmosphere was super nice and spacious too which was cool :-) I love spending time with other creatives- it reminds me that art is infinite, and that beauty can be found everywhere.

    This week:metal accessories / more drawing / whatever :p

Feeling a little consumed by the idea of wearing a metal head piece around, so I’ll definitely be working on that a bit more. I also think I want to visit a few local bead/ hardware shops to get ideas for the new projects.

Drawings felt like they sucked a little less this time around, so I’ll spend more time doing that too. I had a nightmare around a month ago and have been tempted to draw some of what I saw before I woke up. Maybe I’ll do that also, idk.

I like u I appreciate u and thank u for taking off ur shoes before coming in

    Til next week
